The Cabinet Secretary for Devolution Charles Keter has resigned.
Keter has resigned from office to vie for the Kericho gubernatorial seat in the August general election.
He tendered his resignation on Tuesday during a press briefing where he was flanked by legislators from Kericho County.
“I have today tendered my resignation to His Excellency, Hon Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander In Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces,” Keter said
Keter thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for offering him the opportunity to serve in his cabinet.

“I wish to sincerely thank the president for giving me the opportunity to serve in his cabinet since 2016,” Keter said.
He also revealed he would be vying for Kericho governor on Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA ticket and confirmed his support for the DP.
“I’m ready for it, and its obvious I’m in UDA, I will be supporting the deputy president all the way ,” Keter said
Keter’s resignation is in line with the provision of section 43 (5) of the Elections Act, 2011 that require those holding public offices and who wish to contest for any elective post in the forthcoming August 9, 2022, General Elections to resign.
He joins a long list of persons holding public officer who have declared their interest in elective post.
