A man has been handed a 20-year in jail term after a court found him guilty of defilement and murder of a minor in Maragua, Murang’a County.

The 46 year old suspect Isaak Mwangi Wakanyi was accused of waylaying and abducting the minor on September 5, 2013 while on her way from school.

The little girl’s body was found the following morning by who were going to school.

Justice Kanyi Kimondo said the case had been proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

She said the accused assaulted and strangled the innocent minor for his own self gratification.

“The accused assaulted and strangled an innocent five-year-old for his own gratification thus he must bear the consequence,” Kimondo,

‘I sentence him to serve 20 years in prison.”

Wakanyi’s jail term runs from September 6, 2013.
