U.S. Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman announced her resignation today, Tuesday, in a statement delivered to her embassy staff.
Whitman, a seasoned businesswoman and former gubernatorial candidate, was appointed by President Biden in 2022.
"Today, I announced to my team at the U.S. embassy that I submitted my resignation to President Biden. It has been an honor and privilege to serve the American people through strengthening our partnership with Kenya," Whitman stated.
Whitman expressed her pride in leading a people-centred agenda that prioritized health, security, and economic development for both Kenyans and Americans.
She highlighted the U.S. government's swift response to Kenya's devastating floods in 2023 and its ongoing commitment to combating diseases such as malaria, HIV, and MPOX.
