The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has elected Collins Oyuu to be the next Secretary-General of KNUT.

Oyuu takes over from Hon. Wilson Sossion who resigned from the position last week just before the KNUT elections, to pursue his political interests.

He was elected unopposed after serving as the KNUT chairperson.

The union’s election was held on June 26, 2021, at Ruaraka Sports Club in Nairobi.

Apparently, he was the only candidate eyeing the position that was vacated by Sossion.

The former teacher at Ruma Primary School in Siaya County becomes the union's 7th Secretary-General and will hold the position for the next 5 years.

The elections were held for more than 15 positions, including the Chairpersons, Deputy Secretary-General and Treasurer.

Hesbon Otieno was elected Deputy Secretary-General, and Patrick Kariga became the Chairperson.

The positions of Natural Treasurer and Deputy National Treasurer went to James Ndiku and Hussein Ali Abdi, respectively.
