Hundreds of youth in Rift Valley are now better prepared to face the future after participating in a two-day Safaricom Hook Circle masterclass in Eldoret.
The event, hosted at Ol’Lessos National Polytechnic, brought together 600 young people from the region to explore opportunities in technology, engineering, and career development.
Safaricom is using its youth platform, Safaricom Hook Circle, to equip young people across Kenya with real-world skills, mentorship, and access to jobs, entrepreneurship, and culture.
“We are creating spaces where youth can explore their passions, sharpen their skills, and connect with real opportunities. Safaricom Hook Circle is more than a bootcamp; it is a platform for empowerment, inclusion, and innovation,” said Safaricom Chief Consumer Business Officer Fawzia Ali Kimanthi.
She added: “By focusing on disciplines like engineering and technology, we are helping shape a generation that is ready to build and lead Kenya’s future.”

The Rift Valley edition was run in collaboration with Google Africa and Safaricom’s own Technology Teams, including Networks and Engineering.
Participants benefited from mentorship forums, live technical demos, and hands-on practical sessions that introduced them to real-life applications of ICT and civil engineering.
The engaging sessions also provided an opportunity to demystify Safaricom Hook and how young Kenyans can join and benefit from it.
Youth who completed the program earned certifications in Building & Civil Engineering and ICT, enabling them to either continue with their education or pursue opportunities in the workforce.
Safaricom Hook Circle is a countrywide movement aimed at connecting young people aged 10 to 24 with skills, mentorship, networks, and opportunities in digital technology, business, and culture.
Since 2023, more than one million youth across Nairobi, Meru, Nyeri and Mombasa have taken part in Safaricom Hook programmes.
Safaricom says it plans to reach even more counties in the coming months and youth who are seeking to join the Hook Circle can dial *555# or through the Safaricom App.
