Celebrated Nigerian singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has taken home the 2021 Best International Act at BET Awards.

In the category, Burna Boy emerged winner beating other popular artists like his countrymate Wizkid, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz.

The star was also nominated alongside Aya Nakamura (France), Emicida (Brazil), Headie One (UK), Wizkid (Nigeria), Young T & Bugsey (UK) and Youssoupha (France).

Upon receiving the award, excited Burna Boy thanked his mum and everyone who supported him.

“I made it this time to collect my award. Thank you, everyone, thank you, my mum, the most beautiful woman on earth who would normally be making this speech for me because I don’t really like talking on the mic if I’m not singing but my mom is here and thank you everyone and anything,” he said.

Burna Boy has won the BET Awards thrice consecutively, having won in 2019, 2020 and now, 2021.
