ARSENAL 1-0 NORWICH CITY

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was on the score sheet as Arsenal won for the first time this season.

The Gunners had already lost three in three to Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City without scoring a goal.

Pressure was on Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to deliver with Antonio Conte rumoured to be waiting in the wings to replace him should he be shown the door.

Arsenal began on the ascendancy but Aubameyang spurned two great chances in the first half.

Norwich had their chances but couldn't convert before Arsenal scored in the second half.

Thomas Partey played a forward pass into the feet of Bukayo Saka who turned and played a pass into the path of Nicolas Pepe whose shot was parried onto the post by Tim Krul in the Norwich City goal.

The ball rebounded kindly back to Pepe who shot again but could only hit the woodwork once more but the ball ricocheted off his foot to Aubameyang who tapped into an empty net. He couldn't pass up such an opportunity.

MANCHESTER UNITED 4-1 NEWCASTLE UNITED

The last two weeks have been awash with news of Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Manchester United and when likely he'd make his debut.

When United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that Ronaldo would be in today's squad, football fans couldn't wait for it.

He started alone in attack with Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood just behind him.

The first half was coming to a close when Mason Greenwood cut in from the right and drilled a left-footed shot towards the Newcastle United goal. It took a slight deflection and spilled from the hands of Freddie Woodman in Newcastle United goal. 

As the ball rolled loose, the figure of Cristiano Ronaldo took a step forward. Woodman tried to recover his ground but could not. Ronaldo moved towards the ball and caressed it into the empty net and United were ahead.

The visitors equalised eleven minutes after the interval when Miguel Almiron turned beautifully away from his marker deep in his own half and hurtled forwards. He squared the ball for Allan Saint-Maximin, who pushed it into the path of the overlapping Javier Manquillo and Manquillo lashed it past David de Gea.

It was a Ronaldo show once more six minutes after the equaliser as he restored United's lead.

Luke Shaw burst forward and played the ball to Ronaldo as he raced down the inside left channel. Ronaldo took the ball in his stride, eased away from Isaac Hayden and drilled his shot through the legs of Woodman. Old Trafford in delirium!

Fernandes and Jesse Lingard added further gloss on the scoreline to ensure the prodigal son's return was perfect.

In other matches, West Ham were held to a goalless draw at Saint Mary's by Southampton with Michail Antonio seeing red at the death.

Manchester City beat Leicester at the King Power Stadium to go provisionally second(Chelsea could overtake the Citizens if they beat Aston Villa in the late kick-off) behind Manchester United with Bernardo Silva getting the all important goal.

Brentford lost to Brighton while Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Watford 2-0 away from home.
