The Par-72 Ruiru Sports Club golf course in Kiambu County last weekend hosted more than 200 golfers for the fourth leg of the prestigious 2024 NCBA Golf Series tournament.

Angelus Maina, who played off handicap 12, carded a formidable 36 stableford points to carry the day in the Division One category for golfers with handicaps between 1 and 12.

Louis Nderi, playing off handicap 11, bagged the second position in the division with 34 points.

On the other hand, Catherine Wambui, who was competing off handicap 12, carded 29 stableford points to swing her way to victory in the Ladies Division One category.

Joseph Wairagu, who was playing off handicap 21, was declared the winner in the Division Two category of the 2024 NCBA Golf Series after carding an impressive 40 stableford points.

Lucy Njuguna, who played off handicap 14, swung her clubs to victory in the ladies’ category of the second division carding a remarkable 38 stableford points in the weekend action.

Similarly, Elias Kiragu carded 35 points while competing off handicap 28 to top the Division Three category.


In the Junior Category, Alex Ngugi wowed his fellow junior golfers with an imposing 39 points, while Harris Maina triumphed in the guest category carding 32 stableford points.

NCBA Bank’s Apollo Asol vagged the staff prize at the competition with a cool 30 points.

NCBA Group Retail Business Director Tirus Mwithiga stressed on the significant role the NCBA Golf Series plays in enabling the bank to forge stronger relationships with its clients.

He noted that the NCBA Golf Series continues to provide a platform for inclusive participation, growing talent through junior programs and also community engagement.

Ruiru Sports Club Captain James Muraguri applauded NCBA Bank for taking the prestigious golf series to Ruiru Sports Club and also spearheading a successful golf tournament.

“We are immensely grateful to NCBA for choosing Ruiru to be part of the Series which has not only elevated the profile of our club but has also provided an opportunity for golf enthusiasts in our region to showcase their talent,” said Muraguri.


He added: “We extend our invitation to NCBA to return to Ruiru in the future, as we look forward to further strengthening our partnership and hosting more successful events together.”

The NCBA Golf Series will resume on May 4, 2024 and will move to Thika Sports Club.
