Tottenham Hotspurs was the only team with 100% start to the new League season heading into this weekend.

On the other hand, the Eagles were yet to win a game this season and hadn't beaten Tottenham in the league in six years; it was understandable that the odds were stacked against them.

But you'd not know the difference when the first whistle blew because the Eagles began the better side and more enterprising of the teams.

And as a sign of things to come, Eric Dier was forced off, injured after a tackle by Jordan Ayew in the eighth minute. He tried playing on but soon went down again and was replaced by Joe Rodon.

Crystal Palace created chances in the first half but couldn't make any of them count.

Chelsea loanee Connor Gallagher was in the middle of everything good about Palace's play; he singlehandedly ran the show in the middle of the park.

Tottenham couldn't even muster a single shot on the Palace goal in the first half; their first shot of the match came on 48 minutes from Lucas Moura.

The Eagles continued to prod the Spurs rearguard in the second half just as they did in the first but still couldn't score.

The game took a turn in the 53rd minute when Tanganga took exception to Wilfried Zaha's reaction to his tackle and grabbed him by the neck.

A scuffle ensued with at least fifteen players getting involved and resulting in a yellow card for both Zaha and Tanganga.

A second yellow card for the Spurs defender followed a few minutes later.

The Spurs defender wasn't able to keep his cool in the wake of that tussle with Zaha and on the hour mark, he slid in recklessly and late on Jordan Ayew, collecting a second yellow.

If there were any doubts about Palace's performance, the red card gave them a renewed impetus and belief that they could win the encounter.

Infact, they almost took the lead in the 73rd minute but for a goal line clearence by Sergio Reguilon.

The pressure finally paid off when Ben Davies handled in the box.

Zaha stepped up and rolled it home beautifully, sending Hugo Lloris the wrong way.

Odsonne Édouard came on for Christian Benteke in the 84th minute for his Premier League debut and what an impact!

27 seconds after coming on and two touches of the ball later, he scored to make it 2-0. Brilliant work by Zaha down the left and a low cross just needed a single touch by the new striker to control and the second touch to score.

He made it 3-0 with basically the last touch of the game

after excellent work on the edge of the Spurs box by Conor Gallagher to find the striker in space.

Patrick Vieira, the Arsenal legend and Spurs nemesis, is off and running.
