World Rally Championship (WRC) will kick off on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in the afternoon.

Motorists within Nairobi are advised to avoid a number of roads to allow for the WRC flag off and the easy manoeuvrability of the rally cars out of the city.

Nairobi Area Traffic asked motorists to avoid Thika Road and Uhuru Highway from 8:00 am to around 12:00 pm.

Once the rally cars are officially flagged off from KICC, they are routed to go through Parliament Road on to Haile Selassie Avenue, Uhuru Highway, Wangari Maathai Road then head to Kasarani through Thika Road

From Kasarani the rally cars will head back onto Thika Road, then turn into Muthaiga on their way to Naivasha.

Nairobi Area Traffic Commander Joshua Omukata however said that although there will be traffic disruptions on the mapped out roads, there won’t be any closure of the same roads.

Rally fans in Nairobi have the opportunity to enjoy part of the spectacular event at the Kasarani Stadium.

The event will affect several major roads that will either be closed or controlled ahead of the 4-day event.
