Moja Expressway Company, the operator of the Nairobi Expressway, has issued a traffic advisory warning motorists of increased traffic on the expressway due to maintenance works on Mombasa Road.
"For your safety, motorists are advised to exercise caution and drive within the designated speed, especially at the entrances and exits. We apologise for any delays and thank you for your continued patience," the company stated.
This advisory comes as the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced the temporary closure of the Nairobi-bound carriageway on the highway.
The closure, which spans from Fuso (Simba Colt) to the Southern Bypass Interchange (Ole Sereni), is set to last seven days, commencing last Friday at 10:00 pm and concluding next Friday at the same time.
According to KenHA, the closure will allow essential maintenance works to be carried out along this stretch of the highway.

KeNHA has outlined alternative routes for affected motorists during this period.
Heavy vehicles exceeding a gross weight of 3.5 tonnes and drivers heading to the Southern Bypass will be diverted to Kyang’ombe Slip Road, which links to the main highway through Old Mombasa Road.
Meanwhile, other vehicles will be accommodated on a single lane provided along the affected section.
In a public notice, KeNHA advised motorists to exercise caution and cooperate with on-site authorities to minimise disruptions.
"Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, follow the proposed traffic management plan herein and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site," the notice stated.
Motorists are urged to plan their journeys with potential delays in mind and to follow the provided directions to ensure smoother travel during the maintenance period.
