The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced that the Gitaru Interchange, located along the busy Waiyaki Way and Southern Bypass to Western Bypass, will experience a temporary traffic disruption starting Tuesday next week.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption at Gitaru Interchange on A8 (Waiyaki Way) and Southern Bypass to Western Bypass," KeNHA stated.

The disruption is expected to last for a month, ending on Thursday, December 19, 2024, as road works are carried out on the Right-Hand Side (RHS) Carriageway connecting the Southern Bypass to the Western Bypass.

The traffic interruption is part of KeNHA's scheduled improvements at the interchange, which aim to enhance road infrastructure and ensure a smoother commute upon completion.

To minimise inconvenience, KeNHA has implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan to guide motorists through the affected area safely.

In a public notice, KeNHA advised, “motorist to follow the traffic management plan, project road signs and co-operate with police and traffic marshals on site.”

Drivers using the Gitaru Interchange are encouraged to exercise patience and follow all signposted instructions to ensure both their safety and the smooth flow of traffic.

KeNHA has deployed traffic marshals and coordinated with police officers who will be stationed on-site to assist in managing traffic.

"KeNHA advises motorist to follow the traffic management plan, project road signs and co-operate with police and traffic marshals on site," the authority advised.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys with these delays in mind, as KeNHA works to complete the project in the scheduled timeframe.
