A devastating road accident unfolded at approximately 5 a.m. on Monday, resulting in the loss of four lives and leaving nine others severely injured.

The incident occurred at Hill Tea Area along the Eldoret-Nakuru Road and involved a Nakuru-bound matatu operated by Msamaria Shuttle Ltd.

The tragic collision occurred when the matatu lost control, colliding head-on with a 60-seater bus.


The matatu, carrying 16 passengers at the time, claimed the lives of its driver and three passengers who tragically perished on the spot.

"The bodies of the deceased were moved to Eldama Ravine Sub-County Referral Hospital," stated the National Police Service.

The nine seriously injured passengers are currently undergoing treatment at the same medical facility, grappling with the aftermath of the devastating accident.

In response to the incident, the National Police Service issued a poignant statement, emphasizing the critical need for heightened caution on the roads, particularly during the rainy season.


"Motorists and all other road users are urged to exercise extreme caution while on the roads, especially during this rainy season," urged the National Police Service.
