The Safaricom M-pesa Foundation is making significant strides in healthcare provision, with over 3500 patients expected to benefit from their ongoing medical camps.

This initiative, in partnership with Zuri Health in Trans-Nzoia County and Flying Doctors in Homa Bay County, is delivering much-needed medical care to underserved communities.

In Trans-Nzoia County, a recent medical camp at Kiminini Primary School in Kitale served as a ray of hope for 3400 residents.

The comprehensive range of services provided included eye care consultations, breast cancer screening, Fistula screening, general doctor consultations, and child health consultations.

Notably, this isn't a one-time event; patients also receive a six-month free medical consultation service through SMS code 40815 and WhatsApp, connecting them with certified doctors from Zuri Health for ongoing care and support.

Nicholas Nganga, Chairman of the M-Pesa Foundation, emphasized the integration of technology in their approach.

"We have been incorporating technology in our free medical camps to provide patients with necessary follow-up care after the medical camps," Nganga stated.

"We use the platforms to provide patients with health education and self-care tips to help them manage their health more effectively. So far, the Foundation has conducted eight successful medical camps in various counties across the country, including Trans-Nzoia."

In Homa Bay County, the M-Pesa Foundation has been instrumental in holding a free fistula medical camp that has benefited 90 women.

This camp offers free screening, treatment, and surgeries at the Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital, alleviating the suffering of these women and restoring their quality of life.

This remarkable initiative is conducted in collaboration with the Flying Doctors Society of Africa, reaching far and wide across the country.

Over 350 women have received free treatment and surgeries in counties such as Migori, Bungoma, Kilifi, Nyeri, Kajiado, Garissa, Nairobi, and Tharaka Nithi.

The program aims to reach 1000 women by the end of 2024, providing vital healthcare services to those who need them most.

The M-Pesa Foundation's commitment to utilizing technology for follow-up care and its extensive reach in providing healthcare services is transforming the lives of thousands of individuals, ensuring they receive the medical attention they require.
