President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced changes and re-assignments in the executive as he seeks to enhance efficiency in his administration to solidify his legacy as it nears its end.

The move has seen some PSs and CASs either moved to different ministries or fired in the changes announced on Wednesday evening by Head of Public Service Francis Kinyua.

"The changes are also in recognition of the momentous task of setting the foundation for building back better, as Kenya rebounds from the socio-economic shocks of the coronavirus pandemic," President Kenyatta said in the statement.

The changes have fueled speculation that the president could be preparing to conduct a cabinet reshuffle, coming amid a bitter fallout with his deputy William Ruto as Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga forge an alliance to push through the BBI referendum.
