A suspected member of the Al-Shabaab militant group was apprehended by a multi-agency security team along the Garissa-Dadaab road.

The arrest took place while the individual was on a reconnaissance mission ahead of launching attacks in Garissa, Kenya.

The captured militant, identified as Abdinasir Hassan Hussein, is believed to be part of a group of Al-Shabaab militants deployed from Somalia with the intention of carrying out attacks in Kenya.

Intelligence reports obtained by security agencies revealed that Al-Shabaab had plans to conduct attacks using Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the North Eastern and Lamu regions, targeting security personnel and other road users.

The arrest of Abdinasir Hassan Hussein is a significant development in preempting these planned attacks.

He is currently assisting the police in identifying his accomplices, which will aid in disrupting further terrorist activities.

The successful operation highlights the collaborative efforts and coordination among various security agencies in their ongoing fight against terrorism.

By intercepting an active member of Al-Shabaab during the reconnaissance phase, the security team has prevented potential loss of life and averted imminent danger in Garissa and other targeted areas.
