Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko will spend two more cold nights in police cells after a Kiambu court refused to release him on cash bail as he had requested on Tuesday.
Sonko is now set to remain in custody until Thursday February 4 when the court is expected to issue a ruling on whether the ousted county boss will be released on bail.
The impeached Governor will be remanded at Gigiri Police Station, where he was held overnight Monday after he was responded to summons to appear at the DCI headquarters.
On Tuesday, Sonko was charged with a total of 12 counts, including assault, robbery with violence and destruction of property.
The charges are related to an incident in which he allegedly forced entry into a private property at Buru Buru estate in Nairobi County back in 2019.
