The Mombasa County Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) delegates on Thursday serenaded their party leader, Raila Odinga, ahead of his 78th birthday on Saturday.


Raila who was in Mombasa at Tononoka Social Hall for a delegates' meeting could not hide his joy when Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir led the delegates in singing the birthday song.

“Happy birthday dear Baba, Happy birthday to you…” the delegates.


At some point in the song, Raila was ushered to the podium where he joined the delegates in singing the song.

Leaders from across the political divide led Kenyans in wishing Raila a happy birthday and sent their messages of good wishes.

Among the leaders who sent their birthday messages include former president Uhuru Kenyatta who wished divine blessings and favour upon Raila.

"I would like to take this opportunity in the new year, to wish my brother and friend Raila Odinga a happy birthday,” Uhuru said.

"May God's blessings and favour be upon you today and in the years to come.”
