Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga on Friday said the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) boss Wafula Chebukati should be taken to The Hague allegedly for committing crimes against humanity.

Raila was speaking in Mombasa County where he also accused Chebukati of committing an evil act when he announced President William Ruto as the August 9, 2022, presidential election winner.

“Chebukati should be taken to The Hague and be charged with the evil he has committed against Kenyans. What he has done is commit crimes against humanity,” Raila said.

The ODM leader also raised concerns about going back to an election in 2027 before what he termed the mess Chebukati made is cleared.

“We must clean Chebukati’s garbage, there will be no need for Kenyans to go back to the ballot to vote in 2027 before cleaning Chebukati’s mess,” Raila said.

Raila lost the presidency to Ruto in the election before he filed a petition against Ruto's win at the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court later upheld Ruto's victory and declared him the winner in a unanimous ruling.
