The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has withdrawn its bid to drop corruption charges against the former Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal.
The ODPP applied to withdraw the Sh84 million corruption case involving Lenolkulal when the matter was in its final stages.
That followed the former governor’s petition to the ODPP, seeking a review of the charges, arguing he was taking steps to relinquish the ownership of Oryx Service Station.
He also claimed correspondence from the Samburu County Treasury showed there were no procurement breaches.
This now means the matters will proceed as they had been earlier scheduled.

On Friday, the Senior Assistant DPP Alex Muteti told the count they rescinded their earlier application to drop the case after wide consultations with Haji.
In 2009, Lenolkulal was charged with four counts of abuse of office and conflict of interest, which culminated in the loss of Sh84 million of public funds.
He was accused of knowingly acquiring direct private interests in contracts between his company; Oryx Service Station and Samburu County for the supply of petrol and diesel.
The case will now be heard when the last witness will take the stand on January 23, 2023.
