The Gatundu North MP-elect Elija Njoroge Kururia has hinted that he may ditch President-elect William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance for Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition should the Supreme Court quash his victory in the recent presidential elections.

The MP-elect was speaking during a burial ceremony in Gatundu South.

Kururia said he only supports Ruto because he holds the president-elect’s certificate otherwise should the table turn at the Supreme Court and Ruto’s win gets nullified, he will jump ship to Raila’s side.

"I'm waiting to see who between Azimio or Kenya Kwanza has the best deal I jump there. For now, I support Ruto because he has the certificate of being elected but should it be withdrawn, I will move to Azimio because my Gatundu North Constituents must remain in government," Kururia said.

He thanked the Gatundu South residents for electing him and urged them to wait for the Supreme Court’s verdict.

Kururia was elected on an independent ticket and was quick to visit Ruto at his Karen office to offer his support for him.

However, his latest remarks have left many of his supporters baffled, as he now seems to shift grounds with a section of them saying he is indecisive.

Other MPs who were elected on independent tickets have their political stands hanging in the balance, waiting for the Supreme Court’s verdict.
