President Uhuru Kenyatta held one-on-one talks with Rwanda President Paul Kagame at the State House in Nairobi on Thursday.
Kagame was in the country for a working visit.
The two presidents discussed an array of areas of cooperation between Kenya and Rwanda, including trade and transport.
Uhuru said Rwanda’s strategic position in the region makes her an important trading partner to Kenya because she acts as a getaway to the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and the larger Great Lakes Region Market.

He lauded Rwanda for reopening its border with Uganda at Gatuna noting it will ease movement between the two neighbouring East African Countries.
The head of state also urged Rwanda to diversify its imports from Kenya and continue taking advantage of the improved services at the Port of Mombasa.
This, he said will enhance the bilateral trade between Kenya and Rwanda.
Uhuru assured Kagame of Kenya’s commitment to ensuring the two countries collaborate in championing the ideas of the East African Community for the benefit it the people of the region.
The two heads of state discussed issues arising within the region and Africa generally.
The two leaders affirmed their commitment to working together towards finding lasting solutions to conflicts facing Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia and Ethiopia.
They said Kenya and Rwanda will continue playing a leading role in promoting dialogue and peace amongst feuding parties.
