The former driver with 2NK SACCO who was sacked for reporting weed-smoking students from Fred’s Grammar Mixed School has finally met Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti.

John Maina Muthoni met the DCI's boss in his office at Mazingira House along Kiambu Road on Thursday evening.

Nominated Member of County Assembly for Limuru East, Mercy Nungari accompanied Maina to the DCI boss’ office.

Kinoti asked Maina to contact him or present himself to the DCI headquarters on November 29 when he heard the news that he was sacked following his noble deed.

During their meeting, Kinoti once again commended Maina for his noble deed, trying to persuade the students not to indulge in substance abuse and reporting them when they failed to heed his advice.

The DCI boss voiced his concerns about the increased instances of substance abuse among school-going children, which has made it difficult for parents and guardians to mould their children into useful members of the public in the future.

Kinoti urged Maina to continue upholding his moral values and stand up for what is right, even if it threatens his career.

2NK SACCO sent Maina packing after he drove the PSV vehicle, carrying the students who were intoxicated on alcohol and weed into Sagana Police Station.

That he did even after the students threatened to teach him a lesson if he did not mind his own business, namely just driving.

The SACCO’s move irked a large section of Kenyans who sympathised with Maina. They encouraged him and assured him his good deed will not go unrewarded.

Maina has since landed a job with the Nyeri County Government.

The Governor for Nyeri County Mutahi Kahiga announced that his government would offer a job for Maina in one of its departments.
