Kenya National Union of Teachers, KNUT, Secretary-General, Collins Oyuu, has called on parents to take charge of their children.

Oyuu has condemned acts of arson, that have been witnessed in several schools across the country.

The alarming number of school fires in the last term of the new curriculum since the pandemic has raised concerns over who is culpable and what the long-term solution is.

Parents have been urged to discuss post-pandemic changes in their children.

Oyuu has called on the ministry of education to avail the school fire report to the public, saying it will help with dealing with the problem.

The SG said children should be condemned for the act of burning schools.

His sentiments come barely hours after one dormitory at Maranda High School, Siaya County went up in flames.

However, the Cabinet Secretary of Education Prof.George Magoha indicated that government will not take any responsibility for building those dormitories burnt by students.
