Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya has warned political leaders in the region against divisive and tribal politics as the country heads towards the 2022 general elections.

Natembeya said security agencies are on high alert to ensure peaceful campaigns and elections next year.

Natembey was addressing residents of Kiminini in Trans Nzoia county during an inspection of projects.

The vocal commissioner said the national government has put in place the mechanism to oversee peaceful elections and peaceful transition.

Natembeya said he will not tolerate any leader inciting people on the basis of selling his agenda.

His remarks come after the Muslim clergy across the country voiced their concerns over the divisive manner in which political campaigns are being done adding that they will advise their members on the direction to take.
