Member of Parliament for Garissa Town, Aden Duale has vowed to petition the Cabinet Secretary for Treasury Ukur Yatani over the use of Sh2 billion drought fund.

Duale wants Yatani to explain how the revenue that was allocated for drought has been utilized.

Making his claims in Garissa, Duale said once the Parliament will resume its sittings on Tuesday, and he will ask the house to summon Yatani to explain how the funds have been managed.

Duale regretted that the activities on the ground do not reflect what president Kenyatta announced.

The government had in the months of October and November set aside Sh2.4 billion to handle the situation, disclosing that Sh1.2 billion had been spent on purchasing food in the month of October.

The remaining Sh1.2 billion was also used on purchasing food for the affected counties.

According to Duale, there is little on the ground as far as drought mitigation is concerned.
