Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect who defiled and murdered a five-year-old girl in Kianjoku village, Mathira Constituency, Nyeri County.

The body of the PPE 2 pupil at a neighbour's house on Friday following a search mission that was launched on Thursday when the little girl disappeared. 

A local named Catherine Wachira was the one who discovered the lifeless body at the abandoned house only a few meters from the victim's home.

According to the mother Damaris Wairimu, her daughter had come from school at 3 pm, changed her uniform but no one knew where she had gone.

At 9 pm, they reported the incident at the Kiamachimbi police post.

Police officers have vowed to look for the person involved in the murder.
