Angry protestors paralyzed transport on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway on Wednesday as they demanded an urgent resolution to the problem.
The protesters were mainly residents of Bangalaa in Mombasa, who were protesting the disruption of water supply in their area.
They barricaded the road using their water jerry cans, tanks and all manners of water storage containers as they demanded an end to the accute water shortage.
Police had to lob teargas to disperse the angry protesters who insisted on staying put until the matter was resolved.
Their demonstrations caused a traffic snarl-up of the highway temporarily disrupting the normal operations.
