Tanzanian Member of Parliament for Kilwa South, Selemani Bungala of ‘Uliskia wapi’ fame has lost his parliamentary seat in the general elections held on Thursday.
Bungala alias Bwege of ACT Wazalendo party was ousted by ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) candidate Ally Kasinge in the polls marred by claims of massive irregularities, especially in the presidential ballot.
Tanzania electoral commission’s returning officer for Kilwa South announced on Friday that Kasinge had trounced Bungala by 22,521 votes against his 10,096.
Bungala is especially popular in Kenya and his home country for a video that went viral capturing him complaining animatedly about President John Pombe Magufuli’s government.
It seems even the viral video and his antics in the Tanzanian National Assembly could not convince the Kilwa South constituents to re-elect him to represent their interest.
