Kiambu Governor James Nyoro has responded to the Majority Leader of the National Assembly Amos Kimunya’s assertion on Sunday.

Kimunya was at Kiambaa on Sunday campaigning for Jubilee candidate Kariri Njama when he said that the government will stop development projects in Kiambaa should they fail to elect the Jubilee candidate.

Nyoro termed Kimunya’s statement as unfortunate and misleading. He said that the statement was not the government’s policy but Kimunya’s personal opinion.

He continued saying that if Kimunya’s statement was the government’s policy, President Uhuru Kenyatta would not have been in Kisumu where he recently launched various development projects.

“If it was government policy the His Excellency the President Uhuru Kenyatta should not have been in Kisumu for a week because we know how the voting pattern went for the president,” Nyoro said.

Kisumu is largely believed to be ODM leader Raila Odinga's stronghold.

The governor said that he trusted the residents of Kiambaa to make the right choice and vote for the Jubilee candidate out of will but not threats.

He appealed to the Jubilee party to have some coordination as they campaign for both Kiambaa and Muguga by-elections and have the same command centre which includes himself. 

He said that both the Kiamba and Muguga residents confirmed their support for the Jubilee candidates and what is left is for Jubilee to conduct diplomatic and organised campaigns.
