The State House has announced that Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan will be in the country for a two-day state visit.

The visiting president will be received at the State House by her host, President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Tuesday, 4th May 2021.

Uhuru invited Suluhu in a bid to strengthen the bilateral ties between Kenya and Tanzania that seem to have somewhat dwindled during the former president, the late John Magufuli's tenure. 

President Uhuru sent Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed on a diplomatic errand, to deliver Kenya's invite to his Tanzanian counterpart officially earlier in April 2021.

The Tanzanian president received the delegation headed by Amina and said that her government was ready to settle any underlying disputes, both speculated and actual.

She also suggested the revival of the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) which strengthened bilateral ties between Tanzania and Kenya. 

"The two countries share a rich history, and that the ties should not end over issues that can be resolved." President Suluhu said.

The head of state assured his Tanzanian counterpart of Kenya's unwavering cooperation.
