Police are investigating an incident in which a journalist working at Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) was shot dead by armed thugs who raided her home Wednesday night.
Police say KBC video editor Betty Barasa was shot dead by one of the three armed thugs inside her home located at Ololua in Ngong town, Kajiado County.
According to police, the armed thugs waylaid Barasa at her gate as she arrived home from work and led her into her family home and held them hostage as they robbed them.
The family narrated how the armed gangsters demanded cash, ransacked the house and carted away a variety of electronic items, including laptops during the night incident.
It remains unclear why Barasa was shot by the thugs on returning from work days after her family moved into their new house.

The three thugs are reported to have been lying in wait for the journalist while armed with AK47 rifles and as soon as she drove into the compound they forced their way in with her.
The house help, who opened the gate for her, fled into the bushes while screaming for help on realising what was transpiring.
Police later established that the journalist had been shot twice on the head killing her on the spot.
Her body has been moved to the Montezuma funeral home.
