Nairobi-based activist Edwin Kiama Mutemi was on Thursday released on a cash bail of 500,000 shillings as police conclude their investigation into his alleged crime.
Kiama appeared again at the Milimani Law Court after spending Wednesday night in police cells as he awaited the court decision on prosecution’s request to detain him for 14 days.
The court has ordered him to report to the investigating officer every single day for the next 10 days ahead of another hearing on his case.
In an affidavit on Wednesday, investigating officer Patrick Kibowen told the court he was still probing him for possible offences under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act 2018.
Kiama was arrested over links to two ‘public notices’ warning the International Monetary Fund (IMF) not to give more loans to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
