Controversial and wealthy businessman-cum-politician Mzee Jackson Kiprotich Kibor is dead.

Kibor died on Wednesday while receiving treatment at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Eldoret following a long illness aged 88.

He was admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit after both of his kidneys had failed.

His health had deteriorated since contracted the coronavirus in 2020, forcing him to depend on an oxygen supplement.

Kibor was known for being philanthropic and controversial.

His name hit the local headlines from time to time over his marital disputes with his wives or rights with his children over his properties.

Kibor also became popular among the youth as the Chairman of a fanciful men’s conference, which is usually slated on every February 14, to rival Valentine’s day.

He was a farmer with over 4,000 acres of land and also had an interest in real estate.

Kibor is survived by several wives and 26 children.
