Controversial politician Rashid Echesa is now a happy man after the court acquitted him of fraud charges in the Sh39 billion gun scandal.

Senior principal magistrate Kenneth Cheruiyot ruled that Echesa and the three other suspects were free citing a lack of evidence.

However, one of the suspects and a businessman Chrispine Oduor Odipo was found with a case to answer for being in possession of guns to commit forgery.

Echesa and the three others were charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.

They were accused of intending to make fake documents with an intent to defraud the multi-billion gun scandal.

The state had earlier noted that Echesa and three others obtained Sh11.5 million from one businessman promising to reward him a tender to supply military types of equipment.
