Based on the 2024 KCSE examination results released on Thursday, a total of 1,693 candidates scored a mean grade A, compared to 1,216 candidates in 2023.
246,391 candidates attained the direct university entry qualification of grade C+ and above (25.53%) in the year 2024 KCSE exam compared to 201,133 (22.27%) in the 2023 exam.
Similarly, a total of 476,889 candidates (49.41 per cent) attained overall grade C- (TVET Diploma) and above in the exam compared to 401,216 candidates (44.42 per cent) in 2023.
The released results show that 605,774 candidates got an overall pass grade of D+ and above in the exam compared to 526,222 in 2023.
At the same time, the results of 840 candidates, who were found to have engaged in exam irregularities, have been cancelled while those of 2,829 others are under investigation.

“The results of 2,829 candidates suspected to have been involved in exam malpractices have been withheld pending completion of investigations that should be completed within 30 days from today,” Ogamba revealed.
The CS said undisclosed disciplinary action will further be taken against 91 contracted teachers who are said to have been involved in aiding examination malpractices.
“It is unfortunate that a few contracted professionals and teachers are still insistent on ruining the future of our learners by subjecting them to examination malpractices,” he said.
