Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba on Thursday morning released the much-anticipated 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results.
However, as soon as the results were officially released Swala Nyeti noticed that the KNEC website was experiencing some downtime leaving those trying to check results stranded.
In posts on varied social media platforms, Kenyans lamented over the delays in accessing the KCSE portal, with some appealing to KNEC to urgently correct the inconveniencing hitch.
The 2024 KCSE candidates have been instructed to access their individual exam results online through the following link on the KNEC website https://resullts.knec.ac.ke.
Each candidate will be required to enter their index number and any of their official names as contained in their KCSE registration information.

Ogemba has appealed to any candidate who is experiencing trouble accessing their KCSE exam results to call KNEC through the toll-free number 0800724900 or 0800721410.
In a clarification later, KNEC said the delays in receiving feedback on results was occasioned by the high number of requests being sent to the portal of up to 300,000 hits per second.
“We urge Kenyans to be patient and assure them that everyone will be able to access their results,” clarified the examination council.
According to the Ministry of Education Cabinet Secretary, a total of 965,512 candidates sat their KCSE exam in 2024 in 10,755 exam centres, compared to 899,453 candidates in 2023.
Female candidates outnumbered their male colleagues in the 2024 KCSE exam for the first time since KCSE was introduced, with 482,202 girls and 480,310 boys taking the exams.
The Education CS further revealed that a total of 840 candidates were involved in KCSE exam cheating in 2024 and consequently all their examination results were cancelled.
