Citizen tv political editor and presenter Francis Gachuri has quit Royal Media Services (RMS) to go and head communications at the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
Gachuri, who has been working at RMS for the past 16 years, will now take over at the Ministry headed by Interior CS Kindiki Kithure as the Secretary for Strategic Communications.
At RMS, he hosted iNooro TV’s political talk show Kiririmbi on Sundays and was part of the popular four-person panel on the news commentary show News Gang every Thursday.
Gachuri, on Wednesday during the editorial meeting, bid farewell to his colleagues at the Maalim Juma Road-based media house, which is owned by billionaire SK Macharia.

Our sources at RMS have told us that the veteran journalist will be departing from RMS on Friday to take up his new assignment at the Interior Ministry located at Harambee House.
Gachuri went to Senior Chief Koinange High School in Kiambu County then graduated with a journalism degree from Moi University before joining RMS on September 1, 2007 as a political reporter.
“I have called this place home, when I came here, I was a young man, who did not even have a family then. All my major milestones have happened while I was here. Now I have two families - my wife and kids, as well as the RMS family that includes my colleagues, our viewers, listeners and readers,” he said during the Citizen Tv editorial meeting.
The journalist thanked RMS chairman SK Macharia, Vice-Chairperson Gathoni Macharia, MD Wachira Waruru alongside his other media bosses for playing a key role in his media career.
“I thank God for everything,” added Gachuri as he readies for the heavy task ahead.
Gachuri’s job is well cut out coming when the Kenya Kwanza government is facing a public communication crisis, with Kindiki vowing to deal decisively with the banditry menace.
