A new chapter has opened for students in Homabay and Nandi counties following the commissioning of Sh11 million worth of infrastructure projects by the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Foundation.
The initiative aims to create better learning spaces, particularly for students with disabilities, by addressing congestion and upgrading key facilities in select schools.
Among the developments is a 100-bed dormitory at Siburi Mixed Secondary School and two new classrooms at Lambwe Special School in Homabay County.
In Nandi County, Tachasis Integrated Special School has received a refurbished home unit, enhancing the institution’s capacity to cater to learners with special needs.
While speaking at Siburi Mixed Secondary School, KPC Managing Director Joe Sang emphasised the Foundation’s goal of improving access to education for all.

"KPC Foundation’s education initiatives align with the national government’s goals to increase secondary school enrolment and school completion rates across Kenya," Sang stated.
"We believe that education is a powerful tool for change and these projects reflect our commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of their physical abilities or background, has access to a conducive learning environment."
The government has acknowledged the significance of such partnerships in improving education. Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi commended KPC Foundation’s contribution and encouraged other organisations to step up.
“The government is committed to partnerships that enhance access to quality education. We commend KPC Foundation for prioritizing the welfare of students and ensuring they learn in a dignified environment and call upon other entities in the corporate space to support our learners wherever possible,” he said.
Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo highlighted the long-term impact of the projects, saying, “This investment by KPC Foundation is not just about infrastructure but about transforming lives. A well-equipped and safe school environment is key to academic success and personal development.”
KPC Foundation has a growing footprint in the education sector, particularly in Nyanza, where it has previously funded five major projects.
These include a dormitory and laboratory at Simbi Secondary School (Sh8 million), an administration and ablution block at Kowuor Primary School (Sh5 million), and a multi-purpose hall at St. Mary’s Secondary School (Sh5 million).
With the latest developments, students in the beneficiary schools now have improved facilities to support their academic journey, ensuring a more inclusive and dignified learning environment.
