A Nairobi court has acquitted producer Peter Blessings of defrauding gospel singer Kelvin Kioko alias Bahati of Sh2 million by pretending he could produce music videos for him.
Milimani senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi vindicated Blessings, real name Peter Munyaru, ruling that the case was civil and could not be prosecuted as a criminal matter.
Ochoi also ruled that Prosecutors in the case had failed to prove their case against Blessings.
Bahati had testified in court that Blessings had signed a contract in 2019 undertaking to work at his EMB Records and all revenues from the music he produced go to the studio.
The gospel singer claimed Blessings instead left the company in violation of his contract.

Bahati's manager Lawrence Munyao, popularly known as Weezdom, told the court EMB records spent more than Sh2 million on Blessings to continue producing music for the lable.
However, the court on Monday ruled that the accused had no case to answer after analyzing all evidence produced in court by the singer and prosecution witnesses.
The magistrate termed Bahati’s case an abuse of the court process as he should have filed a civil case, accusing the police of handling he investigation into the matter casually.
Blessings was charged with obtaining Sh2,039,000 from Bahati with the intention of defrauding him between July 4, 2019 and January 5, 2020 at EMB studios in Nairobi.
