Azimio presidential running mate in the August 9, General Election, Martha Karua, on Thursday took to social media and announced that she was celebrating her 65th birthday.

As Karua turned 65, the lawyer and politician nicknamed Iron Lady has expressed her gratitude to God for allowing her to reach the prime age.

“Sixty five today and thanking God for it,” she posted on Twitter.

The Senior Counsel’s tweet was widely shared and liked as it attracted birthday wishes from smallwigs and bigwigs on social media, led by Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

Karua commemorated her birthday weeks after the Supreme Court threw out their petition challenging election of President William Ruto and over a month after the grueling election.


Martha Karua is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a former long-serving Member of Parliament for Gichugu Constituency and once served as Justice Minister in the late former President Mwai Kibaki administration from 2007 until she resigned in April 2009.
