Kenya shone brightly in Ghana after being crowned number one in the Top 40 Under 40 Africa Awards after her nominees scooped six out of the nine trophies in their categories.

The Top 40 Under 40 Africa Awards celebrates the most influential and accomplished young business leaders below the age of 40 in Africa and was held in Accra, Ghana on Wednesday, March 26.

Kenyans who won in the various areas they were nominated in are Ruth Mueni, Maryben Omollo, Anthony Ngure, Christine Awuor Ogolla, Toseef Din and Rose Chepchirchir Rono.

Mueni, a public communication and advocacy practitioner who works in State House, Nairobi, trounced Zimbabwean Paul Mokaya in the communication and advertising category.

“I am so honoured and blessed to bring the award home State House Kenya. Thank you to His Excellency the president for enabling the youths to nature their talents in this country. I present this award to my generation,” she posted on Twitter.

Nairobi’s MP Shah Hospital CEO Toseef emerged top in the Health and Wellness category while Omollo won in the Women Empowerment category.

“It helps to direct my focus towards impacting lives knowing that the benefits will be felt for years to come. As I help others become better and greater, it equally helps me,” Toseef said.


Ngure brought home the Printing and Publishing category trophy, Ogola the Community Development category award and Rono was feted in the Consultancy category.

To qualify for the awards, one must have founded or co-founded a company, or is shareholder or an entrepreneur aged 40 or below and be a citizen of any of the 55 African countries and who lives in Africa or in the Diaspora.
