Veteran Kenyan broadcaster Badi Muhsin was laid to rest on Saturday afternoon at Kariokor Cemetery in Nairobi according to Muslim traditions.

According to his family, Badi was buried at 4 pm after al asr prayers.

His remains were transferred to Nairobi overnight ahead of his lying at his home in Biafra Eastleigh section 3.

The decorated newscaster was on official duty in Mombasa to interview Alice Tabu for the legends TV news edition known as Dira Ya Magwiji which he used to host on Saturday.

Muhsin died in his sleep at a Mombasa Hotel on Friday afternoon at around 4 pm.

Before his demise, Muhsin had attended Friday prayers and returned to his hotel room when he complained of feeling unwell.

Meanwhile, President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned the news anchor as a devoted and patriotic Kenyan who contributed to the development of journalism in the country.

In his Message to the family of the late, the head of state regretted that Badi had died shortly after being rehired by the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation KBC to nature and mentor the next generation of broadcasters.

 “He was loyal to the core, steadfast and highly committed to his profession and employer KBC. Mr Muhsin was a true Kenyan trailblazer and role model whose recent return to KBC after years of rest, was an act of selflessness and love for his profession and country,” the President eulogized.

Kenyatta had also prayed to God to give the family, friends and relatives the strength to overcome the deep sadness of his sudden demise.
