The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a critical update to its iTax system, calling on all taxpayers to verify and update their mobile numbers.
This move aims to combat tax evasion while improving service delivery.
Taxpayers are urged to log into the iTax platform using their personal identification number (PIN) and password.
“KRA would like to notify all registered taxpayers of the ongoing data cleanup exercise for PIN registration details," the authority stated.

Once logged in, the system will display the currently registered mobile number. If this number is correct, users can click on “send verification code” to receive a code on that number.
If the number is outdated or incorrect, users will be prompted to update it by entering their current mobile number before proceeding.
A verification code will then be sent to confirm the change.
This initiative is part of a broader effort following a previous notice issued on June 24, 2024, where KRA requested taxpayers to update their personal details to assist with a cleanup of personal identification numbers (PINs).
In addition to updating mobile numbers, KRA encourages taxpayers to review and update other personal details, including physical addresses, emails, business locations, residency statuses, and any directorships or partnerships held.
"The exercise aims to ensure the integrity of the taxpayer register, enhancing service delivery for all,” KRA stated.
By ensuring that contact information is accurate and up-to-date, KRA aims to foster better communication and secure transactions between the authority and taxpayers, reinforcing its ongoing efforts to streamline tax collection processes.
