Kisumu County residents are set to experience a groundbreaking shift in the way local revenues are managed, as Safaricom, a leading telecommunications company, has entered into a strategic partnership with the county government.

The collaboration introduces the Integrated County Revenue Management System (ICRMS), aimed at revolutionizing various revenue services and streamlining administrative processes.

Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We have co-created this platform with Safaricom to provide a seamless and user-friendly experience for Kisumu residents and county officials to contribute to the overall efficiency of revenue management."

The ICRMS will encompass a range of revenue services, including parking, CESS, markets, advertising, property rates, and approvals.

One of its key advantages is the reduction of waiting times at county offices, offering residents a more efficient and time-saving experience.

The system allows payments through various channels such as USSD code, WhatsApp, the MyKisumu App, and a web self-service portal.

Safaricom emphasized that the platform integrates real-time payment channels like M-Pesa and banks to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation of transactions.

Cynthia Karuri-Kropac, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at Safaricom PLC, emphasized the significance of this digital transformation.

"The implementation of the ICRMS system in Kisumu County reflects our commitment to driving digital transformation for efficient service delivery, making services more accessible and convenient for all, and furthering our mission to connect, empower, and improve the lives of Kenyans," she stated.

The addition of dashboards accessible to executives enhances visibility and control, enabling effective monitoring of revenue performance and operations.

In a bid to provide end-to-end support for the ICRMS, East Africa Device Assembly Kenya Limited has joined the initiative to supply smartphones necessary for dedicated revenue collectors to run the revenue application effectively.

This collaboration not only signifies a significant step towards digital transformation in service delivery but also underscores the commitment of both Safaricom and Kisumu County to leverage technology for the betterment of their communities.

The ICRMS is poised to enhance not only revenue management but also the overall efficiency and accessibility of public services in the county.
