President William Ruto has undertaken that each year his administration will construct more than 200,000 houses which will be set aside for low-income earners.

According to President Ruto, said the low-cost housing projects will create at least two million jobs, especially for the youth.

The Head of State explained that the housing projects spread across the country will help to tackle the youth unemploymemt crisis while also providing proper shelter for many Kenyans.

Dr Ruto was speaking in Ongata Rongai in Kajiado County when he officially launched 734 houses in apartments blocks constructed by Kings Serenity targeting ordinary Kenyans.

He noted that his Kenya Kwanza Government had identified affordable housing as a priority to enable more ordinary Kenyans to own houses affordably.

“It will make even Mama Mboga and boda boda own a house in Nairobi,” he said.

Dr Ruto added that his administration will work with the 47 County Governments to ensure that most Kenyans benefit from the government’s affordable housing programmes.

The affordable housing project was initiated under former President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big 4 Agenda to enable more low income earners to afford and purchase homes reasonably.

While addressing members of the public at the Ongata Rongai Shopping Centre later, he pledged to expand Magadi Road to ease the perennial traffic snarl ups as well as the road linking Magadi Road to Nazarene University area and the Ongata Rongai SGR station.
