The nominee for Interior Cabinet Secretary’s position, Kithure Kindiki has assured Kenyans he will do everything within his means to handle the bandit crisis and terrorism.

Kithure said that on Tuesday when the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments vetted him for the position.

The professor intimated he was ready to make sacrifices, which include living in the North Rift area that has experienced the worst cases of banditry to ensure he deals with the menace decisively.

"I assure Kenyans that I will make whatever sacrifices that need to be made, I will stay focused until the banditry problem is over,' Kithurei said.

“Even if it means going to live in the North Rift.”

Kithure said his approach will be more discreet as the docket requires less speaking.

"We will speak less because security does not require speaking," Kithure said.

Should the Committee approve his appointment, Kithure vowed to discharge his duty fairly and to deal with crime impartially regardless of one's political or social status, noting that crime does not have a face.

"We will respect human rights but criminals have to be faced like criminals period! Crimes have no ethnicity and are not political," he said.

"A politician who has committed a crime is a criminal, a lawyer who is committing a crime is a criminal and so is a doctor.”
