Safaricom has unveiled Safaricom Hook, a new platform that is aimed at seeks empowering the youth in Kenya through focusing on technology, career, and culture.
Safaricom touts the new platform as a technology enabler seeking to nurture and support the aspirations of Gen Z through custom-made offerings leveraging its vast mobile network.
“Through Safaricom Hook, we aim to provide a platform for young Kenyans seeking inspiration, opportunities, and a sense of belonging in a constantly evolving world. As the name suggests, Safaricom wants to create a lasting connection with a generation that has unique needs,” said Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.
Safaricom Hook will facilitate Gen Z to exploit their online potential by easing smartphone access, providing relevant value propositions and loyalty rewards as well as delight offers.
In the Tech hook, Safaricom seeks to enable the youth with digital skills through its Digital Talent Programme, Safaricom Engineering Community, and partnerships with Power Learn Project among other organisations.

The Career hook, will prepare the youth for conventional and unconventional careers and Safaricom will partner with Meta and Wowzi to offer them digital training to access the gig economy, as Brighter Monday provides guidance for those in conventional careers.
In the Culture hook, GenZ will be enabled to pursue their passion including sports through Safaricom Chapa Dimba and the upcoming Safaricom Athletics series; content creation through Baze enabling creators to monetize their music and video content; and Fashion, through partnerships including Artfit, who will mentor upcoming designers, among others.
Safaricom Hook will also leverage M-Pesa Go, and the Mali wealth management platform to promote a savings culture.
