John Paul Okwiri has been appointed as the new CEO of Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) after serving in acting capacity for the past 10 months.

Okwiri replaces Eng John Tanui, who was elevated by the president to serve as the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information Communication and the Digital Economy in 2022.

KoTDA is the agency that has been tasked with the implementation of the ambitious Konza Technopolis project.

The agency has described Okwiri as a dynamic and visionary executive, who is passionate about driving transformation.

KoTDA says he brings on board a proven track record in delivering large scale strategic infrastructure and innovation projects leveraging diverse resourcing models.

Following his confirmation, Okwiri is expected to provide strategic leadership to Konza Technopolis to realise its vision as a leading global technopolis and an innovation hub.

He has played a key role in delivering mega projects at Konza Technopolis, including Konza Phase 1 Horizontal Infrastructure and Kenya Advance Institute of Science and Technology.

He also rallied funds to build a Tier 3 National Data Center, boosting Kenya’s cloud infrastructure and data center services and secured the 41st International Association of Science Parks (IAPS) 2024 Conference for Konza Technopolis.

Okwiri holds an MBA in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.

He is a Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS-UK) and the Kenya Institute of Supplies & Management (MKISM).

Okwiri is also a certified FIDIC Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB) Expert.
