The Kenya National Innovation Agency (KENIA) has unveiled an all-round shop for innovators, investors, organisations supporting enterprises and customers in the country.

According to KENIA, the Kenya Innovation Bridge is already operating in Western, Lake, Rift Valley, and Coastal regions and that various participants had already been roped in as users.

The agency says it has linked more than 400 entities and is pursuing 120 partnerships, with the platform hosting over 2,000 innovators, investors and enterprise support organisations.

The aim of establishing the agency was to boost the detection of inventions and to assist upcoming innovators in the country to access a virtual marketplace for their innovations.

KENIA intends to, through these measures, connect the innovators with financing and partnerships to enable them to establish commercially viable businesses and products.

“We envision it as a literal innovation marketplace; whether an innovator is looking for mentorship, partnership, funding or capacity-building opportunities they can find it all there,” indicated KENIA CEO Dr Tonny Omwansa.

The government believes that through Kenya Innovation Bridge’s efforts, the innovators in Kenya will help create employment opportunities and boost Kenya’s economic growth.
